Intro to Modern Type Design: Final Class
I’m genuinely sad that this class is over because I feel like my typeface is just beginning to to shape. I spent a lot of time refining spacing, numbers and punctuation this week and (I think) it shows in my final PDF. We had a wonderful guest critic last night – Maria Doreuli of Contrast Foundry - who had some really great feedback and insights on our work.
I plan to keep working on my specimen (Gloria!) in the coming weeks and months, but am also actively looking into potential type-design programs so I can continue learning.
I’m slowly shifting back into school-mode - which really the point of these classes was to ensure my head stayed in the game for school, and that was a success. But with that comes thoughts of thesis, and the presentation that is due two weeks from today (!!). Fortunately topics and ideas are coming together in my head, and after a long conversation with my sister this morning (Thanks Kellie!), I feel I have a solid direction to begin my research.
